mDetect devices use patented, cost-effective and low power smart sensors to capture the light from plastic scintillators.
Onboard artificial intelligence then reconstructs the path of these muons through multiple layers of scintillators within each detector. The result is an accurate reconstruction of the path each particle from space have taken.
As dense objects preferentially block the muons such structures will effectively cast a shadow on a single device beneath. Regions of low density such as an air gap opening up will be detected as sudden increase in muons arriving from a given direction. We combine this projected density picture from multiple such devices in a process called inversion to give a true 3D image of the structure.
Our software pipeline can simulate the expected muon rate for your situation letting us plan for exactly where and how long our devices are need to provide a detection.
